Blood donation camp at Jallianwalla Bagh
Amritsar – (October 2) – Today on the occasion of birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi a blood donation camp was organized at Jallianwala Bagh. Different organizations joins their hands under the aegis of `JAGO INDIA JAGO’ movement. Motivation in youth for national pride and homage to Shaheeds of Jallianwala Bagh massacre 13th April 1919 is main target. Getting the status of Freedom fighter for these shaheeds, it was effort in Gandhian mood, `Blood donation in reply of Blood –sahed.’
Members of the NGO said that blood donation camp was organized to awake the Government from deep slumber to grant the status of freedom fighter to the martyrs who were killed during the massacre of April 13, 1919 when Brigadier General Rengield Dyer did indiscriminate firing on innocent freedom fighters.
There was tremendous response came out during the blood donation camp. Sitting BJP MLA Anil Joshi along with numerous of workers appeared to donate blood. Shaheed –E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh youth Front (NGO) led by Gurmit Singh also turned up with dozens of people to donate blood.
Director Principal of Spring Dale School Manveen Sandhu along with her school student and teachers also donated blood. Police personnel, media persons and dozens of tourists also voluntarily offered themselves for blood donation on this occasion. President of Jallianwala Bagh Shaeed Parivar Samiti Bhusan Behal was also present on this occasion.
Director of well known NGO Manveen Sandhu told that she was also paying homage through this blood donation camp to her grand father who was the eye witness of the massacre of Jallianwalla Bagh at the age of 20 when he was a student of Khalsa College Amritsar. Latter on her grand father serve as Dist. And Session Judge in Lahor and retired from Ludhiana.
Doctors from Guru Teg Bhadur Hospital of Government Medical College managed the Blood donation camp on the request of convener D.P. Gupta, Retd. Assistant Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Amritsar and co-convener Naresh Johar. President of Indian Medical Association Dr. Amrik Singh Arora, Medical Supritendent or SGTB hospital Dr. R.P..S Boparai, Satish Bhardwaj, Ganesh Poddar are main amongst organizational support.
